THE ACADEMY

The Courses...

... are designed to enable you to gain essential background knowledge very quickly without dwelling on information, which although interesting, does not effect your everyday photography.

More experienced photographers on the courses need to be aware that although we do start from the basics, the learning curve is very steep.

The Academy maintains a high standard of both technical and creative work but for the Certificate course we do not expect students to have previous qualifications or experience.  If you do, then that will obviously be of benefit to you and the course as a whole.

Simply wish to increase or update your skills?  You will be able to do this.  If you have your sights set higher then we can help you attain your objectives with our Advanced Modules.

Several questions often asked by course applicants are answered in the FAQ's below.

The Studio...

Opened in April 2004 the business has a modern general purpose shooting studio with a full range of studio and location lighting units.  The studio carries out all types of photography and graphic design work in both the Social and Commercial fields.

To enable us to maintain a close interaction with our students we limit the number on each course, thus giving a low student to instructor ratio.

The Instruction...

... is chiefly by Malcolm Kemp, who is the Studio Director of Champaigne Photography.

Malcolm is proud to be an Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photography of which he was a Chairman. This Award he gained in 1986 in the field of Scientific Photography, having been a Professional Photographer since 1967.  He also has a City & Guilds in General Photography.

Malcolm was a photographer in the Royal Air Force and later was in charge of Photography Courses at Ware College in England.  He has had several years in the Defence Industry as a Scientific Photographer and for fifteen years has run a Photography and Design Studio in Norfolk.

His teaching experience has ranged from evening courses for amateur photographers to Full Time Professional Courses and latterly at the Defence School of Photography.

The Certificate of Education was gained at a two year course at Hatfield University.

Although Malcolm has had a wide experience of the Profession he is still surprised by what his students teach him, he never stops learning!
